MovieFrens Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MovieFrens, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use MovieFrens.
By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and up to date.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree not to share your account or impersonate another person.

4. Community Rules & Acceptable Use

Users agree to:

Treat others with respect.
Follow the MovieFrens Community Guidelines.
Not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, or abuse other users.
Not impersonate another person.
Not spam, advertise, or promote unrelated businesses.
Not use MovieFrens as a dating platform.
Not engage in illegal or fraudulent activity.

5. Safety & In-Person Meetups

MovieFrens is a platform that helps connect people with shared interests in seeing movies together. We do not organize, supervise, or control in-person meetups, sell movie tickets, operate movie theaters, or act as an event organizer. We simply provide a platform that allows users to connect with one another.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, MovieFrens does not conduct criminal background checks, identity verification, or screening of users. While we work to promote a safe and respectful community through our Community Guidelines and reporting tools, we cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, conduct, or safety of any user.

By choosing to attend a meetup, you acknowledge that you do so voluntarily and at your own discretion and risk. Users are responsible for exercising good judgment when interacting with others, both online and in person.

For your safety, we encourage users to:

Meet only in public places, such as the movie theater.
Let a trusted friend or family member know your plans.
Arrange your own transportation.
Leave immediately if you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Contact local emergency services if you believe you are in immediate danger.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MovieFrens is not responsible for the actions, conduct, injuries, losses, damages, theft, disputes, or other incidents that may occur during or after interactions between users, whether those interactions take place through the app or in person.

6. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit to MovieFrens, including your profile photo, display name, chat messages, and other information you choose to share within the app.

By submitting content, you grant MovieFrens a limited license to display and use it as necessary to operate the service.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

7. Subscriptions, Theme Purchases, Payments & Refunds

MovieFrens may offer optional in-app purchases, including Theme Bundles and other premium features.

When you purchase a Theme Bundle or other digital content through MovieFrens, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use that content within MovieFrens through the account associated with the purchase.

Purchasing digital content does not transfer ownership of the Theme Bundle, artwork, graphics, designs, or other underlying assets to you.

Theme Bundles and their associated content may not be sold, transferred, sublicensed, distributed, reproduced, extracted, separately downloaded for use outside of MovieFrens, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission from MovieFrens.

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their applicable payment, billing, and refund policies. Prices may change at any time. Unless required by applicable law or the applicable app store’s policies, digital purchases are generally non-refundable.

Access to purchased Theme Bundles and other premium features is subject to these Terms and may be restricted where necessary to enforce these Terms, protect the MovieFrens platform, or comply with applicable law.

MovieFrens provides eligible new members with three (3) complimentary successful group movie experiences. A successful experience is one in which a qualifying movie group is formed and the experience is counted as completed under MovieFrens' published rules. Unsuccessful matching attempts do not count toward these three complimentary experiences.

After using all three complimentary experiences, members must purcchase a paid subscription to continue participating in group matching. Subscriptions are currently offered at $4.99 per month, with the applicable price clearly displayed before purchase. No payment information is required to access the complimentary experiences, and no subscription begins automatically when those experiences are exhausted.

Paid subscriptions automatically renew monthly unless canceled. Subscription payments are processed through the applicable app store at the price displayed and accepted at purchase. Members may cancel their subscriptions at any time through their app store account settings. Cancellation prevents future renewals, and access to paid subscription features continues unil the end of the current billing period. Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or the app store's refund policy. Deleting the MovieFrens app does not cancel your subscription.

8. Intellectual Property

The MovieFrens name, logo, branding, software, design, graphics, and other content are owned by or licensed to MovieFrens and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, sublicense, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from MovieFrens content without prior written permission, except where otherwise permitted by applicable law.

9. Platform Safety & Security

You may not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to MovieFrens or its systems.

You may not:

Access or attempt to access accounts, systems, data, or areas of MovieFrens that you are not authorized to access.
Use bots, automated systems, scripts, crawlers, or similar technologies to access or interact with MovieFrens without our permission.
Scrape, harvest, collect, or extract user information or other data from MovieFrens without authorization.
Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying technology of MovieFrens, except where such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.
Introduce viruses, malicious code, or other technology intended to interfere with or damage the Service.
Circumvent or attempt to circumvent security, access controls, technical restrictions, or other protective measures.

10. Third-Party Services

MovieFrens may integrate with or rely on third-party platforms, services, technologies, content providers, mapping services, app stores, payment processors, notification services, and other third-party providers.

MovieFrens does not control these third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, content, policies, or practices.

Your use of third-party services may also be subject to the terms and privacy policies of those third parties.

11. Availability of Service

We strive to keep MovieFrens available and operating properly; however, we do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, secure, available, or error-free.

MovieFrens may modify, update, suspend, discontinue, restrict, or remove any feature or portion of the Service at any time, with or without notice, subject to applicable law.

We may also temporarily limit access to the Service for maintenance, security, technical, operational, or other reasons.

MovieFrens provides access to a social group-matching platform but does not guarantee successful matches, group formation, or attendance at any particular movie or showtime.

Matching availability depends on member participation, selected theaters, movies, showtimes, cancellations, and other factors outside MovieFrens control.

Paid subscriptions provide access to eligible matching features, not a guaranteed number of successful moviegoing experiecnes. Unsuccessful matching attempts do not entitle members to subscription refunds, except as required by applicable law or the applicable app store's refund policies.

MovieFrens may allow members to view waiting rooms for upcoming movie showimes before group matching becomes available. Waiting room visibility does not guarantee that other members will join, that a group will form, or that a particular showtime will remain available.

Waiting Room availability, participation, and matching features may change based on member activity, theater schedules, and operational requirements.

12. Account Suspension & Termination

MovieFrens reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account, with or without notice, if we believe a user has violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, applicable law, or engaged in conduct that may harm the safety, integrity, security, or operation of the MovieFrens platform or its community.

13. Warranty Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MovieFrens and the Service are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

MovieFrens does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components, or that information provided through the Service will always be accurate, complete, or current.

Your use of MovieFrens is at your own risk.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MovieFrens shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, loss of data, lost profits, or other losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.

Your use of MovieFrens is at your own risk.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

16. General Terms

These Terms, together with any policies or guidelines incorporated into them, constitute the entire agreement between you and MovieFrens regarding your use of the Service.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

MovieFrens’ failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it later.

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without prior written permission from MovieFrens. MovieFrens may assign or transfer its rights and obligations as permitted by applicable law.

17. Survival

Any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account is closed or your use of MovieFrens ends will survive termination.

This includes, where applicable, provisions relating to intellectual property, digital purchases and licenses, limitations of liability, warranty disclaimers, governing law, and other provisions necessary to enforce these Terms.

18. Notices

MovieFrens may provide notices regarding the Service or these Terms through the app, by email sent to the email address associated with your account, through the MovieFrens website, or by another reasonable method.

You are responsible for keeping the contact information associated with your account current.

19. Changes to These Terms

MovieFrens may update or modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users by email, in-app notice, or another reasonable method.

Continued use of MovieFrens after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

MovieFrens may update its subscription pricing, features, or membership terms from time to time. Any changes to subscription pricing will be communicated in accordance with applicable law and app store requirements. Changes to an existing subscription's price will take effect only after any required notice or consent has been provided or obtained.
